A Tropical Central American Christmas

A Tropical Central American Christmas December 14-18, 2017 in Costa Rica
Are you eager to get away from it all and enjoy Christmas in a truly tropical climate? Join us for a 5 day Tropical Christmas in Costa Rica.
Costa Rica is a Catholic Country and of course one of their favorite holidays to celebrate is Christmas. Just about everything shuts down for 2 (two) full weeks. Some stores will be open, but government agencies and most banks are either closed or on limited hours. What a wonderful experience to visit Costa Rica and to participate in their Christmas Celebration.
Costa Rican’s are for the most part, very loving, compassionate and helpful. You won’t have to worry about hearing “Feliz Vacaciones” aka Happy Holidays or “Feliz Navidad” aka Merry Christmas. Our first Christmas here I was saying Feliz Navidad to everyone and they kind of gave a funny look.
Holiday foods and traditions are amazing here and we want to share that all with you. Help you get the holiday spirit back without the stresses that usually goes along with it.
What is NOT included:
- Transportation to and from Juan San Martin International Airport in Costa Rica, you pay your own airfare.
- Meals out, unless otherwise noted.
What do we provide?
Transportation to and from the airport to Ser La Luz
Outing to the local Farmers Market (Meal Included)
Most cities have their own Feria aka Farmers Market. Where produce is in abundance from the many farmers around. There are “old fashion” meet market type vendors for seafood, pork, beef and of course chicken. No pre-packaged foods here. Is there a particular produce that you wonder what it is and what it tastes like? The vendors will be glad to explain to you what it is, how to eat it and if it doesn’t need cooked, they will even let you have a sample. On most of our retreats you come with us as we buy our produce for the weekend AND you get to experience some typical Costa Rican’s foods in one of the smaller restaurants aka Soda’s. Of course we include that in the retreat price.
Transportation to and from Festival de la Luz (Festival Of Lights)
Festival de la Luz
Suppose you could combine (a) Las Vegas, (b) Santa’s village and (c) The Rose Bowl into one massive party. The result would look something like the Festival de la Luz, a nocturnal carnival of color that marches its way across the city this Saturday evening. Featuring all kinds of brightly lit floats, marching bands, and (of course) a fireworks display, the “Festival of Light” is the most bombastic way to start the Christmas celebration. This parade has been a staple of Costa Rican Decembers since 1996 – and it’s especially magical for the niños.
